Lisbon (Portela) International Airport (LIS): Approximate driving time is 60 minutes and distance is 130 kilometres (110 miles).
Taxis are available outside the airport, but hiring a car is recommended.
Driving directions: Leaving the airport take the first right exit off the roundabout 2 Circular. Once on the motorway, exit after 1.5 kilometres for the A8 to Loures/Leiria. Follow signs for Torres Vedras, Lourinha, Bombarral, Peniche, Obidos and Caldas de Rainha. Leave the motorway after the toll at Exit 13 for Peniche. Turn left at the T-junction. Drive two kilometres under a bridge and turn at the sign for Peniche. Follow this road for nine kilometres until the village of Serra D'El Rei. Turn right in the village centre at the sign for Praia D'El Rey and follow the signs from here.
The best way around the region is by car.
